I am reading this book with my Pre-K group this week for our apple theme. I used it with the toddlers today (but really shortened the text) and they enjoyed it too!
Ouch! by Ragnhild Scamell.
Just as hedgehog is getting into her nest for a long nap, a falling apples gets stuck on her spiny back.

Every time a friend tries to help, something else gets stuck
(acorn, pear, leaf, paper, waterlilly, black berries):
Poor Hedgehog!:
Good thing Goat is hungry for some lunch! Problem solved:
Finally Hedgehog can take her nap in her blanket of leaves:
Hedgehog's blanket:
I absolutely adore your leaf blanket. In fact, I'd like to snuggle under one myself!
ReplyDeleteI used 3 different shades of vibrant oranges - holding it up in the light muted the colors a bit, but it still makes me all warm and cozy for NY fall. =)
DeleteOh my goodness! I love this! I'm going to steal it...if I have time to make it this weekend. Haha.
ReplyDeleteIf you find a better way to get the flannel pieces to stick to the hedgehog, let me know! I used masking tape and it worked just fine, but the goat left pieces of tape behind on the hedgehog which may have ruined the illustion a little bit LOL
DeleteLove it! If my library doesn't already have a hedgehog puppet I am buying one!

DeleteI have a hedgehog dog toy that I used and just stuck 3 strips of the hook side of Velcro onto it so that everything sticks - I would not do this with a puppet, but my dog toy is fair game:)
ReplyDeletedo you have patterns for the pieces
