We had over 40 kids in attendance today and got our giggles on!
Memory Box: Horse (From What Color is Your Underwear?)
Books:
Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedmon. Because there are no underpants in space, aliens come to earth to enjoy underpants festivities.
What Color is Your Underwear? by Sam Lloyd. This funny lift-the-flap book features animals and the underwear they wear.
Chicken Cheeks by Michael Black. Illustrations and simple text describe the back ends of various animals.
Flannels:
What color underwear were they wearing? I can't believe the memories these kids have! Underneath the flannel animals were the color underpants they wore in What Color is Your Underwear?
As soon as Fred gets out of bed
his underwear goes on his head.
His mother laughs, "Don't put it there,
a head's no place for underwear!"
But near his ears, above his brains
is where Fred's underwear remains.
At night when Fred goes back to bed,
he deftly plucks it from his head.
His mother switches off th elight
and softly croons, "Good night!"
And then, for reasons no one knows
Fred's underwear goes on his toes.
Music: We danced to the "Sock Puppet" song
What a fun storytime! I'm sure you're right, there is nothing funnier than underpants. I love the Jack Prelutsky poem. I not very familiar with his work, can you tell what book it is from?
ReplyDelete"Something Big Has Been Here", by Jack Prelutsky. It's a book of poetry - and they are great!! One of my favorite books.

DeleteI think that this theme makes one of the best story times. I've added your ideas to the ones I've used in the past. I have to ask, What is the Sock Pupppet Song? It sounds like a lot of fun and props are always a hit with children.
ReplyDeleteFrom this Fabulous album I found listening to samples on CD baby

Cute storytime! I have a storytime regular who, according to his Mom, loves to wear his underwear on his head. LOL! I'll have to share Fred with them. :o) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!! Absolutely! Thanks for the music - I always need help with songs. ~ jane
ReplyDeleteI love your sock puppets. I was going to have underwear for my sheep this week, but I couldn't make them look like underwear.
ReplyDeleteSO FUN!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I want to look up the sock puppet song because...that sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteWHAT COLOR IS YOUR UNDERPANTS? Where can I get a copy that doesn't cost above $70? It looks so good and I want to use it, but our library doesn't have it. :(
